Can Fybogel be used in diabetics?

Yes, the sweetening agents used in Fybogel are aspartame (a source of phenylalanine) and saccharin sodium.

Does Fybogel contain gluten or lactose?

No. Fybogel is gluten-free and lactose-free. It is therefore suitable for coeliacs (people with an intolerance to certain types of cereal products).

Can Fybogel be taken for long-term use?

As Fybogel contains natural isphagula husk, it can be used on a daily basis to maintain bowel regularity.

Yes. Fybogel is suitable for use in the elderly without any dose reduction.

Can Fybogel be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding?

Fybogel may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding since ispaghula husk is not absorbed by the body. It is important to seek medical advice from your doctor before using medicines in pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Are there any occasions when Fybogel would not be suitable?

Do not take Fybogel if your doctor has told you that you are suffering from a blockage of the bowel (intestinal obstruction or faecal impaction) or muscle weakness of the bowel wall (colonic atony), if you suffer from phenylketonuria or if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Fybogel usually works within 24-36 hours after taking it.

Can Fybogel be taking by those with nut allergies?

Yes, however Fybogel may contain traces of coconut. This is not normally a problem for those with a general nut allergy except those with a known, specific allergy to coconut.
